Leather vs. Eco-Leather- Choosing What's Best for You

A lot of our customers love our leather furniture options. However, not only do we have leather upholsteries, but eco-leather ones as well. Choosing between leather vs. eco-leather can be difficult. To help, we want to discuss the differences between the two, along with the pros and cons of each option. Because of this, if you are in the market for upholstered furniture, this is the post for you!

First, let's talk about the main differences between leather vs. eco-leather. Eco-leather is a man-made material that mimics the look and feel of real leather. With many of our options, you can't tell the difference. Real leather is thicker and has a deeper grain, but the changes are subtle look-wise. Because of this, it's a great substitution for the real thing and a good way to save some money. Many of our customers are buying eight to ten upholstered dining chairs at a time, so they go for eco-leather as a less expensive option. Also, eco-leather is also better for the environment.

However, real leather is more durable and softer to the touch. Leather is easier to maintain because there are many sealant and cleaning products to make it looking fresh and clean for the long haul. Additionally, it's easier to mend a rip or tear with leather, while eco-leathers are harder to do that since the material isn't as easy to work with. There are many more options with leather too. We have an array of thicknesses and grain types. The eco-leathers don't have those types of options, but there are many colors to choose from. Depending on what is most important to you determines which option will be the right choice for your home. The dining chairs from Cattelan Italia, Bonaldo, and others offer many leather and eco-leather options, so you can see what appeals to you!
