Shell Coffee Table

The Shell coffee table challenges designing and engineering by combining monumental and brutal physicality, using stacked and fractured glass. The rugged trim is full of character and adds a vivid juxtaposition with the straight edges on the stacked glass. Not only is this a functional piece of furniture but a masterpiece in a contemporary home.

Designed by the legendary British sculptor Danny Lane for Fiam Italia and manufactured in Italy, the Shell coffee table exploits the strength of glass under compression and combines sophisticated construction and apparent simplicity. Shell’s glass base is made of 12 mm thick curved glass while its hand sculptured top is made of 15 mm thick glass.
