Matelassé Vase
Drawn up and produced as an evocation of unexpected materials, the Matelassé vase is a one-of-a-kind piece of decor. Suggestive of weft fabric like a quilted blanket, the design features irregularly thick geometries in a repeating pattern of protruding, squared-off portions. With these pleasingly tactile qualities and a reflecting and refracting nature, it is a gorgeous home to even more gorgeous greenery and flowers. This vase has three finishes, with see-through versions in amber and crystal and opaque ones in matte black and white. The Matelassé vase is designed by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell and is manufactured in Italy with incredible attention to detail.
Designed by
Patricia Urquiola, born in Spain, is an internationally respected architect and designer, with many awards under her belt. She has won “Designer of the Decade" from the Home and Häuser magazines, and “Designer of the Year” from Wallpaper, Ad Spain, and other prominent publications.
Exhibited in many museums and collections, Urquiola's work is world renown and artistic as well as functional. Urquiola works with prominent Italian companies to create aesthetically pleasing and innovative products that look lovely in a modern home. Along with designing, she lectures at various universities in Milan and Paris with Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli.
